Grrr…No matter what I try, I can’t seem to lose weight!
We’ve all been there. You tell yourself you want to lose weight right now but you wait until New Year’s Day to make that a resolution. When New Year’s Day comes, you try to work out as hard as you can but after a few months (or even a few weeks), you’re exhausted and go back to your pre new years’ eating habits. You pack on the pounds and tell yourself, “Next year I am going to lose weight.” And this whole vicious cycle begins.
Find Your Source of Motivation
Losing weight is a long and daunting process, thus it’s important that you have identified your ultimate goals to lose weight right now from the start. You can write down on a piece of paper how you want to weight, look like, what you want to wear, etc. These things can help you motivate yourself as you get a constant visual reminder to push yourself.
Specifying your goals can help you gauge yourself, from how far you’ve gone and how far you’re to your ultimate goal. Again, like the first tip, right this down in your notes and cross out those things you’ve already accomplished as you go along. You can also take a picture of yourself, post it in your fridge and see your improvement month per month.
Consistency and Dedication
To effectively lose weight, you need not just a good program, but more importantly the consistency and dedication to go through the grind in and out the gym. I say in and out the gym because lose weight is not just about punishing your body in your workout, but also in watching over your diet, which is usually the most difficult part.
Also, you should never think of a single mistake as failure. If you see yourself making no progress, or being counterproductive to your goals, then simply re-center yourself and get your feet on the right track again by following the plans you’ve set from the start. Losing weight fast for a specific event of special day can be a good temporary motivation to keep you dedicated.
Be Realistic and Optimistic
Though it’s always good to fantasize that you have a sexy and hot body, it would be better if you set realistic goals and try to accomplish them first. If your goal seems to be so high and impractical, then you can easily get discouraged, especially if you’re making slow progress. If you want to lose weight¸ then you should be realistic in what you can easily achieve while being optimistic to your fantasy of a sexy and toned body.
Have Your Support Network
Because the road to lose weight is long and excruciating, it’s good to get support from the people who care for you, especially for your family and friends, as they can really help watch over your progress.
You can also join online weight loss support groups and forums to ask, seek advice, and help others like you. If possible, find a fitness buddy whom you can go to the gym with and push each others’ limits in working out, exchange diet tips, and motivate each other.
Healthy Way To Lose Weight
There’s no short cut to lose weight. The recommended is 1 to 2 lbs per week, and that’s with combination of moderate and guided exercises and healthy diet. The healthy road to fitness is moderate and varied workout routine, proper hydration, and nutritious diet. Don’t fall victim in fad diets and programs that promises fast weight loss in a week, this can be both unhealthy and dangerous for your overall health.
